Langham Area Artist Receives Award from the Saskatchewan Arts Board
Regina, January 26, 2006 Langham based artist, Kris Moffatt, has been awarded $4,000 to work on a series of figure paintings using oils and acrylics on canvas. Moffat is an emerging artist who received his training in graphic arts from Mckay Technical School and the Urban Canvas Project, both in Saskatoon. He has completed a number of murals and exhibitions and currently works out of a former hardware store building in downtown Langham. Kris is also well known as a talented skateboarder.
Funding was provided through the Arts Board’s Individual Assistance Program, which awards funding to Saskatchewan people who are active in the arts in the province. This program supports the creation of new work in any art form, professional development, research and travel for professional artists. Annual deadlines for this program are in March and October.
The Arts Board works to cultivate an environment that provides Saskatchewan people with opportunities to experience the arts. The arts are essential to a healthy and vibrant society and work alongside other sectors such as tourism and business to strengthen and grow communities across Saskatchewan.
